The International

Course rules

To safeguard the enjoyment of all our members and their guests, everyone using our golf course, our clubhouse and our practice facilities must observe the rules and agreements below.

Applicability

These rules apply to everyone using the golf course, the practice facilities, the clubhouse and all other facilities of The International. This means that, before you start playing, you must be familiar with the content of these rules, and of course that you observe all of them while playing. The International reserves the right to amend and/or supplement these rules.

Instructions from course staff

Staff of The International continuously look after the safety and/or enjoyment of you, your guests and all other golfers on the course. When they give directions or instructions, you must follow them immediately and unconditionally at all times. Failure to comply, or failure to observe the course rules, may result in the player being removed from the course, and even in withdrawal of playing rights for a period to be determined.

Conduct on the course

  • Players at The International behave courteously and sportingly. Behaviour (verbal or non-verbal) that fellow players, other golfers or course staff may experience as disturbing or inappropriate is not tolerated.
  • Follow the rules and etiquette as described in the NGF booklet “De Golfregels”. Also observe (temporary) local rules, as stated on the scorecard, the website or at reception in the clubhouse.
  • Every player must carry a pitch repair tool and use it when needed.
  • Playing in a flight of more than four players is not permitted.
  • Driving range balls may not be used on the course.

Pace of play

For a good pace of play on the course, we ask you to observe the following guidelines:

  • Always keep an eye on the flight ahead of you and on the flight behind you.
  • If you are holding up the flight behind you, let them through immediately, regardless of the make-up of that flight, as soon as:
    • The hole ahead of you is empty
    • You have lost contact with the flight ahead of you
    • Your group is searching for a ball that looks unlikely to be found immediately (the “3-minute rule” relates to searching, not to letting others through).
  • Once you have waved the players of the following flight through, wait until they are out of range before continuing to play.
  • Do not move or talk while a fellow player is about to play a shot.
  • Play a provisional ball straight away if your ball is likely to be lost or hard to find.
  • Leave buggies, golf bags and trolleys well clear of the green, positioned so that you can take them straight to the next hole without walking in front of the green.

Dress code and equipment

At The International you play in appropriate clothing and with functional equipment. What exactly that means:

  • For women: a polo (sleeveless if desired) with a collar, bermudas or a golf skirt.
  • For men: a polo with a collar; bermudas (no sports shorts)
  • T-shirts and tracksuits are not permitted, smart jeans are.
  • Every player must have their own bag
  • Golf shoes are compulsory
  • Golf shoes with soft spikes are also welcome in the clubhouse.

Care for the course

At The International we work together to keep the course in perfect condition. That is why everyone observes the following rules:

  • Always repair your pitch mark on the green (and, if necessary, someone else’s too).
  • If you take a divot, fill it with the sand and seed mix provided. If you do not have this mix, replace your divot and press it down for faster recovery of the fairway.
  • Enter and leave bunkers from the low side.
  • Always rake bunkers and put the rake back.
  • A practice swing on the tee is allowed as long as your club does not touch the grass on the tee box.
  • Never walk through “Ground Under Repair”: the area marked by the greenkeeper as temporarily unfit for normal play (indicated by blue stakes or blue lines).
  • When winter greens are in use, playing on the summer greens is strictly prohibited.
  • When using a buggy, drive on the designated paths as much as possible and carefully avoid any wet areas on the course.
  • Never drive your buggy or trolley over or between the greens, tees, between the bunkers, on the foregreens and aprons.
  • It is prohibited to leave litter, cigarette butts and/or other items on the golf complex other than in the bins provided.

Use of buggies and trolleys

  • Buggies and trolleys are welcome on the course, but The International may prohibit their use at any time to protect the course. Our website shows whether buggies and/or trolleys are permitted that day.
  • Use of a buggy is at your own risk.
  • The driver of a buggy must be 18 years or older.

Booking and starting

  • Every player must check in at reception of The International before the round, before using the driving range or before taking a golf lesson.
  • Be present on the relevant tee at least 5 minutes before your tee time.
  • Starting your round from hole 10 is only possible on instruction of the marshal or a receptionist of The International.
  • If you are unable to use your booked tee time, inform reception of The International immediately (and in any case within 24 hours).

Cancellation

A golf lesson can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours in advance. After that, The International reserves the right to charge costs.

Safety of course staff

While playing, always take the safety of our staff into account. Our greenkeepers and marshals always have priority.

When our staff are carrying out maintenance on and around the green, they will take the flag out of the hole as a sign. As long as they are working, the green in question may under no circumstances be played onto.

For all work on the course, you may only play on when the staff member working on the course has given you a sign to do so.

Practice facilities

  • The practice facilities may only be used by members and their guests.
  • On the chipping green and the putting green you must repair pitch marks and other damage after use.
  • Practice bunkers must be raked after use.

Pets

Pets are not permitted anywhere on the grounds of The International.

Local Rules

Although The International is a special course in many respects, there are a few things that may seem obvious but that we would still like to mention. Repair your pitch marks (and, if necessary, someone else’s too), replace divots on the fairway and leave no litter on the course. Let faster flights through, shout Fore! if your ball threatens to endanger other players, and make sure you are appropriately dressed.
